Hi,

Have decided to try creating my own green roof as I am quite interested in the benefits it can bring to all of us.

But, to be safe, I would first like to create a 'test patch'.

The plan is to create a simple 1m x 1m roof garden situated on a colourbond roof with an angle of approx. 20 degrees in QLD.

Can you please offer any suggestions or guides (Australian please!) on how I would get started so as I don't damage the roof should it all fall in a heap (i.e., roof is structurally strong, I just don't want to damage / rust the colourbond)?

Thankyou,

We shall see. Most Green roof stuff is pure hype. All well and good if these fellows make a go of it but like as not, i'll bet its based not on its own economy but on MY economy in the form of tax subsidies from me to them. My guess is that they have persistent problems finding anyone willing to put a garden on their roof except owner operators, where the owner gets pleasure out of his effort. Would you let someone run around on your roof with sharp tools?

Dear friends,

Catrina Duniam and myself are looking for sponsors for a small project for the Sustainable Living Festival.

The project is a small living roof installation, a kind of a bus stop size.

We've already found the sponsors for the plants and some of the substrate, but haven't found any sponsors for the timber and the engineer fees yet.

Can someone please help us?

If you wish more informations please send us an email.

Kind Regards,

Antonino Giglio

Green roofs are fantastic. Not only do they look pleasing to the eye, they lower the temperature of city blocks, clean the air and reduce the air conditioning load in addition to making new usable space.
Green roofs should be made compulsory.

I love the idea of green roofs! We are in the insurance restoration industry which does not allow us to install green roofing systems. I saw a science channel show about green roofing systems and how they decrease the heat generated by cities, this is the future of roofing!
